When you feel pain in the mid-epigastric or right upper quadrant of your abdomen, you would usually need to undergo a series of tests which may include an ultrasound to check if it’s associated with your gallbladder. Dr. Choi explains the common signs prerequisite for gallbladder surgery.
What Is Gallbladder Surgery?
What is gallbladder surgery? Sometimes patients will come in complaining of mid-epigastric pain or right upper quadrant pain and they don’t know what the etiology of this pain is. So, therefore, what we like to do is usually work them up. What do you mean by working them up? We ask to them to get appropriate tests like ultrasound, the right upper quadrant or a HIDA scan or nuclear HIDA scan which will show the ejection fraction of the gallbladder and this will give us more information to know if the gallbladder is indeed the problem of why the patient is having this pain.
