The main difference between laparoscopic and robotic surgery is that laparoscopic is done solely by a surgeon, while in robotic surgery, a surgeon is accompanied by a robotic system, that provides better visualization and more control. It also allows a surgeon to perform the surgery while sitting and requires less physical force during the surgery. But please note that both surgeries are equally effective and provide great results.
Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery
So laparoscopic surgery is very similar to robotic surgery, however, when you speak about robotics is, we are using a machine called the Da Vinci, where we dock the machine to the laparoscopic trocar sides. And why is a robot so much better, because it gives us better vision, three-D vision, and we are able to cut and be more precise with the robot than we would with the laparoscopic procedure.
