Scaring after bariatric surgery will mostly depend on the way the surgery is done. While some surgeons might go for larger incisions, in most cases the scarring is really minimal because the incisions are very small and heal quickly. It also depends on the way the incisions were closed. Some surgeons might use regular stitches, that they need to remove later, and others might use dissolvable ones, that need no removal and leave no marks.

So, the scarring, I usually do a plastic closure for all my patients, meaning that all the stitches will dissolve underneath the skin so that we will not need to cut anything or remove anything after. So it is like a plastic closure.
